Metal Roof Replacement Preparation Tips to Consider

Blog

One of the most major projects any homeowner can undertake is a metal roof replacement project. This project may require a few days or a week, making it essential to prepare adequately. Other than purchasing the roof replacement materials and hiring the best roofing experts in your area, you need to ensure your home is organised for the project to run smoothly. A little bit of preparation will go a long way to ensure your team doesn't face minor problems. This article will cover helpful homeowner tips on how to get your home ready for the roof replacement.

Mark the delicate landscape features

An experienced contractor will try to avoid destroying your trees, shrubs, sprinkler head, lawn decorations and other landscape features. However, damages can happen during the project. Reduce the chances of damages during the roof replacement project by marking off all the fragile landscape features with lawn flags. You can get these flags at a home improvement store.

Find out if your roof is easily accessible

Your roof replacement team will be using heavy equipment, tools, ladders, and roofing materials. All these materials will have to be placed on top or close to the roof. So, before the roofers arrive to start the job, ensure your vehicles, toys and trash cans are kept aside. The entire area needs to be cleared so the contractor can move the truck close and have an easy access to the rooftop.

Prepare the inside of your home

A re-roofing project doesn't just affect the outdoors of your home—sometimes the work creates vibrations in the house. Since you have to keep your furniture, keepsakes and other vital items safe, consider removing them or using a cover to safeguard them from debris or dust. Don't forget to remove all the fragile decorative accessories and wall art and keep them in a safe location until the project is complete.

Create a plan for the children, seniors and pets

Your loved ones, including pets, need to be kept away from the site. You can ask the kids to play outdoors far from the house or stay inside. Do the same for pets. If you choose to keep your dog outdoors, make sure it stays in a fenced lawn section or on a leash. Note that re-roofing can be noisy. In case you own a nervous dog that barks at every sound, make arrangements to keep it off the property.

Roof replacement will protect your property and boost its value once the project is completed successfully. Whether you have tile, slate, asphalt, or metal roofing, there is a roofing professional out there who can help you.

Repairing or Replacing a Roof

Hello, welcome to my roofing blog, my name is John and I live in Alice Springs, Australia. I recently moved out here with my wife and two kids to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city. We bought an old farmhouse and are in the process of renovating it. The place needs quite a bit of work. One of the biggest jobs so far has been sorting out the roof. It was missing a few tiles and I couldn't decide if we should try and repair it or if it would be better to have it repaired. Thankfully, my neighbour is something of an expert. He came and inspected the roof and recommended that we replace it. He explain how roofing works and the benefits of using different materials. I have learnt so much, I decided to start this blog.
