Top Plasterboard Accessories to Buy When Installing a Plasterboard Wall or Ceiling

Blog

Plasterboard is an excellent material for the ceiling or walls for various reasons. It is lightweight and has unique insulation properties. Most importantly, the plasterboard is relatively cheap and, therefore, the best choice for significant renovation work. However, if you want to work well with plasterboards, you must get certain accessories. Some of the add-ons will help you to build the ceiling and walls fast and efficiently. However, you need to know the essential accessories to acquire because there are plenty of add-ons to choose from. Read on to find out more.

Plasterboard Lift

Although plasterboard is lightweight, it would be foolish on your part to underestimate the amount of work that goes into lifting it and securing it in place. Furthermore, since you have to align the plasterboard with the previous set, the entire process can take a bit of time. If you are doing this with a ladder and bare hands, you will get tired fast. A plasterboard lift offers the much-needed reprieve since it takes much of the work away from your hands. You place the plasterboard on the lift, secure it and use a winch system to lift it in place. Once you have positioned the plasterboard appropriately, all that is left is to punch in the nails. Not only will you finish the project fast, but you will also do it accurately.

Shadow Angle

The interior detailing of a house must complement its architectural style, and one way to achieve this is by using shadow lines to ceiling detailing. When using plasterboards for the ceiling or wall, it is vital to have a clean and neat junction between the walls, ceiling and around the door frame. The gap is ideally 10x10 mm and is best created with a shadow angle. You can get the best of a shadow angle by ensuring that the ceiling or wall plasterboard sheets are cut correctly because rough edges are difficult to cover. Once the sheets are installed, the shadow angle is nailed into the gap and plastered over for a neat ceiling-wall joint. The best part about a shadow angle is that it goes around the ceiling's perimeter with relative ease.

Reinforced Paper Tape

When you finish installing a plasterboard ceiling or wall, you need to protect the finished joints. While a quality plaster will last long, adding reinforced paper tape around plasterboards improves the longevity. The tensile strength prevents the tape from tearing, wrinkling or stretching easily, thereby ensuring it holds the joints together. Additionally, a centre crease in some top-quality tapes allows for a simplified application, while tapered edges and perforations eliminate the chances of bubbling and blistering.

Repairing or Replacing a Roof

Hello, welcome to my roofing blog, my name is John and I live in Alice Springs, Australia. I recently moved out here with my wife and two kids to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city. We bought an old farmhouse and are in the process of renovating it. The place needs quite a bit of work. One of the biggest jobs so far has been sorting out the roof. It was missing a few tiles and I couldn't decide if we should try and repair it or if it would be better to have it repaired. Thankfully, my neighbour is something of an expert. He came and inspected the roof and recommended that we replace it. He explain how roofing works and the benefits of using different materials. I have learnt so much, I decided to start this blog.
